A first year English teacher at a high poverty school - trying to make it work while doing my part to change education (and loving it all in the process).
When I'm not prematurely graying, coaching and writing lesson plans, I read too much fanfiction, drink too much hot tea, and pet the cat. I also have problems accepting that fictional characters are not real.

- Have a PhD by the time I’m 31.
- Support my husband in starting his own business.
- Publish two articles in credible peer reviewed journals in the next year.
- Publish a book/teacher’s companion guide/instructional tool in the next three years.
- Align the entire Hunger Games series to the Common Core, and teach all three novels in an English elective for juniors or seniors.
- Become an English Department Head.
- Make effective composition instruction a priority at my school and district.
- Work at the district level designing curriculum and training teachers in effective instructional strategies in the next five-six years.
- Work for my state’s Department of Education designing curriculum and training teachers in effective instructional strategies in the next ten years.
- Make serious contributions to changing/revolutionizing/reforming education in the next ten years.
